Voodoo Bayou Offers Bold New Orleans-Inspired Cuisine in a Festive Environment

It has locations in Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach Gardens.

I love New Orleans. Not only does the city have a vibrant environment, a festive vibe, and lots of history, but it also has a selection of amazing food to enjoy. While traveling to New Orleans is not always a possibility, there’s always a chance that you can find a nice place to enjoy some New Orleans-inspired cuisine. The food might even keep your cravings at bay until your next possible visit. I assure that the perfect place to go to when looking for a fun, creative yet loyal ode to Cajun food is Voodoo Bayou. When we had the chance to visit, we were highly impressed not only by the food, but the festive and beautiful environment and décor.

We had the chance to go to the restaurant’s Fort Lauderdale location on the Las Olas Boulevard strip. While there, we were pleasantly surprised with the fun and upbeat experience that the restaurant offers to those who decide to come to the restaurant for a bite, a cocktail or both.

Voodoo Bayou does not shy away from being a little over the top, and that’s a great thing. There’s nothing wrong with being a little extra, and this is the type of place where you should wear that fun outfit and bring your favorite people to have a great time as you dine and, at times, listen to live music.

As soon as you walk in, you’ll be greeted by lush décor, a lot of purple and blue velvet details, cheeky décor that is a proper node to New Orleans and the spirit of the city, as well as an expansive bar. We dined upstairs, where the view of Las Olas Boulevard is clear, making it the perfect location for people-watching.

The restaurant is part of the True Grit Hospitality group. Led by Carolina Sanchez and Curtis Peery, the Las Olas location is the third Voodoo Bayou and a gorgeous one at that.

Voodoo Bayou Food

Not only does the location have a pure gothic feel, but the vividly created and executed interior design gives visitors a chance to feel like they have stepped into a medieval inspired fantasy, full of super fun handcrafted pieces that give diners the feeling that they are inside a gothic cathedral like those that are present in the Big Easy. This makes the décor take center stage, and it’s a great ambiance to surround yourself with in the restaurant.

Besides the portions being generous, the cocktails are beautifully presented and unique. It’s obvious that the mixologists take their job to heart, as well as the servers, who are quick to greet you, recommend dishes and make sure that you have the right experience while visiting the restaurant.

When it comes to the restaurant’s food, don’t be afraid to indulge on some Cajun classics, because they will please your palate with their authentic flavors.

The chicken dishes are highly recommended and delicious. Expect dishes such as a Chicken and Biscuit combo featuring four pieces of fresh fried chicken from Claxton Farms accompanied by a Hot Honey & Buttermilk Biscuit. And then there’s that beautiful Chicken and Waffles dish, offering a Cornbread Cheddar Waffle served with sweet and delicious Bourbon Maple Syrup. We also highly recommend the Fried Chicken Sandwich, one of the restaurant’s delicious signature items, a delicious mix of Brioche, tasty Jalapeño Ranch Slaw, Tomato, House Pickles & NOLA Remoulade. Oh, and please do not leave without giving the restaurant’s Jambalaya a try! Served in an adorable red pot, it is the perfect dish for sharing. Or just take it home if you do not finish it. It’s worth it!

The restaurant also offers a variety of specials throughout the week, as well as a great happy hour where you can indulge in discounted drinks and food at the restaurant’s bar area. So, come on by for a delicious or smoky whisky to sip on or a craft cocktail served on unique glassware. There are many options for every sort of spirit and drink aficionado.

An elegant and fun place, make sure to visit Voodoo Bayou. It’s the perfect place to feel like you are elsewhere, enveloped in the sounds, flavors and environment that New Orleans offers, but here in South Florida. You will not regret it.
