A Nose for Clothes owner Syed Gilani obviously had a premonition about the area we know and love today, as he dubbed the Pinecrest location his flagship store, making it one of the first and only women’s retailers in the Pinecrest zip code. Now, 38 years after the first store opened, A Nose for Clothes has grown to seven locations in Florida and Georgia.

The not-so-secret formula to the chain’s success is that it meticulously identifies its customer, buying with a particular woman in mind, based on each store’s location. According to Tania Manley, the company’s regional manager and buyer, the Miami customer is more fun, more willing to experiment, likes color and prints – and isn’t afraid to show it. To that end the store stocks a wide selection of contemporary designer labels such as Bailey 44, Joe’s Jeans, Sanctuary, and Halebob, mixed with crossover brands and great basics. In addition to designer denim, the stores carry a great fitting pant line, Ecru, which is their staple, and all the basic undergarments to ensure they fulfill the one-stop shop theory.

Completing the picture is a wide range of accessories. A Nose for Clothes carries everything from large statement pieces to everyday simple posts and bangles. Their philosophy? To provide fabulous women from all walks of life with wearable contemporary styles at multiple price points, bringing in new merchandise on a weekly basis. Pinecrest Manager Fran Magnus provides her shoppers with a personal shopping experience thanks to her pleasant and knowledgeable staff.

This fall they are standing behind the tried and true camouflage, plaids, and, of course, color. The color palette is a refreshing change from the typical darker palettes many stores lean toward during the fall season. Miamians love to play with color, making it easy to mix any of the aforementioned trends with the great bottoms the store has to offer. And don’t forget to complete your look with the right accessories. Fall 2014 brings more of the smaller layering necklaces to the forefront. Large statement necklaces and bracelets still have their place,” says Regional Buyer Tania Manley. “But the layering effect is a bit easier for women to wear on a daily basis. You need a little bit of both to really compliment all your outfits.”
