The Historic Stranahan House Museum celebrates the 100th Anniversary of 19th Amendment through Virtual History Happy Hour: Ivy Stranahan & the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Historian and Broward Schools educator, Michelle Sammartino discusses the history of the Women’s Suffrage movement and Fort Lauderdale pioneer Ivy Stranahan’s role in it. Event takes place Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are free for members and $8 for non-members. Click here for info.

The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) hosts “Two Voices, One Vision: When Writers and Photographers Collaborate,” a free virtual program. During the event, art historian and curator Elizabeth Shannon explores collaborations between photographers and writers and discusses photobooks including Roy DeCarava and Langston Hughes’ The Sweet Flypaper of Life (1955), Richard Avedon and James Baldwin’s Nothing Personal (1964), among others. The event occurs in conjunction with the museum’s public display of Carl Juste’s “I Am A Man,” on MOCA plaza (pictured above). Event takes place Aug. 20, 7 p.m. Click here to reserve a spot.

The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale continues its virtual music series Happy Hour with The Galleria with a performance by Shane Duncan, who has performed a wide variety of music genres across the country, accompanied by Tiffany Rosario. Event takes place Aug. 20, 5 p.m. on Facebook Live. After streaming, it will be available on The Galleria’ Facebook page along with past Happy Hour performances.

Palm Beach County’s Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts hosts virtual panel discussion “The Current State of the Arts and Nonprofits in Palm Beach County.” The panel includes Kravis Center CEO Judith Mitchell; Dave Lawrence, president and CEO for the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County; Jessica Cecere, CEO for Nonprofits First, Inc.; and Dr. Laurie George, President and CEO for the United Way of Palm Beach County. They discuss the state of the arts during COVID-19, the nonprofit sector’s response to the pandemic and the way organizations plan to pivot going forward for the coming season.
