Sip, Savor, and Screening Fundraiser Hosted by FLITE Center

The FLITE Center invites the community to join the organization at Movies of Delray from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20 in support of its mission during the Sip, Savor & Screening fundraiser. This event offers an elevated movie night experience benefiting the nonprofit during Boca Chamber Festival Days. Attendees will have the opportunity to mingle while enjoying complimentary libations and gourmet bites. The event will also feature concessions, a bar, and a raffle, followed by an unforgettable cinematic experience of the “Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot.”

In Palm Beach County, many vulnerable young individuals face a difficult transition to adulthood after experiencing significant trauma, abandonment, and hardship. FLITE Center serves as a comprehensive and unique haven for youths aging out of foster care, survivors of human trafficking, and those without sufficient support, providing them with vital resources and aid needed for their well-being and development.

In 2009, the FLITE Center was founded through a partnership with the Community Foundation of Broward, the United Way of Broward, and the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale. Its aim was to offer a wide array of services to young adults aged 18 to 25 transitioning out of foster care, as well as to human trafficking survivors aged 10-24 and other vulnerable youth. Today, the FLITE Center serves as a supportive haven where young individuals transitioning from challenging circumstances can access the resources necessary to establish successful adult lives.

With comprehensive and seamless support, FLITE annually assists nearly 2,000 youth in navigating life’s challenges. It connects them to employment, education, health services, counseling, and secure, affordable housing. The demand is significant, and in response, FLITE is expanding its services in Palm Beach County, providing emergency housing for human trafficking survivors, extending its service area into Central Florida, and enhancing access to health and wellness services in Broward. This vital work requires substantial resources and community backing.
