Over the Edge for Gilda’s

THE EVENT  Gilda’s Club South Florida has set its calendar for April 5 for the second annual Over the Edge for Gilda’s at the B Ocean Hotel in Fort Lauderdale – and is urging everyone willing to challenge themselves, and do something truly special, to mark the date down, too. Over the Edge for Gilda’s is an exciting opportunity to take a risk, overcome a fear of heights, do something new – or do it again for those lucky enough to have participated in last year’s inaugural event – all while supporting Gilda’s Club South Florida. Overlooking beautiful Fort Lauderdale Beach, participants will rappel from the roof of the B Ocean Hotel down to A1A.

People interested in going Over the Edge and rappelling from the B Ocean Fort Lauderdale, located on the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and A1A, can register today at www.firstgiving.com/GildasClubSouthFlorida/OTE-for-gildas-clubSFL. There is no registration fee; however rappellers are urged to raise $1,000 from supporters.

Participation is open to the first 92 fundraisers.

THE CAUSE  Each day, someone is told they have cancer. This life-altering news affects not only that individual, but everyone around them. With your help, Gilda’s Club South Florida can continue to ensure that families in our community facing the uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis can benefit from support, education, and hope – free of charge.

The program is a one-of-a-kind model of social and emotional support, professionally facilitated and designed by and for those who know first-hand what living with cancer requires. The program honors all viewpoints and encourages members to create a customized plan based on their personal needs and wants. Gilda’s Club South Florida provides the following Comprehensive Program Components: Support Services, Education, Healthy Lifestyle and Noogieland™, where children and teens touched by cancer can express their emotions through art and play.

TICKETS  Participants must raise a minimum of $1,000 in pledges. Contact: Elisabeth Glynn, 954.763.6776,
