Great Staycation Escapes, Part 3

Trump International Beach Resort

Address: 18001 Collins Ave., Sunny Isles Beach

The allure: This 360-room resort with its own private beach is awash in luxury amenities and services. The grotto-style pool complex—with waterfalls, hot tubs, a children’s pool, and air-conditioned cabanas with flat-screen TVs—is the entertainment hub of a property that boasts four restaurants, four bars (including one poolside), a tennis court and a Planet Kids club. In addition to a full menu of treatments and bundled pampering packages (including options that make use of ingredients like Florida sugar cane and Key lime), Aquanox Spa offers fitness consulting and personal training. On the accommodations front, Trump International has new two- and three-bedroom parlor suites, the latter checking in at 1,764 square feet; all parlor suites come with a washer and dryer. Saka Mori, just off the main lobby (a glamorous sight unto itself following a pandemic-era renovation), has drawn raves for its Japanese fusion cuisine.

Isn’t that special: The resort is offering a free fourth night for anyone who purchases three consecutive nights; the special comes with $25 daily food and beverage credit, and a 20-percent discount on cabana rentals (book by Nov. 24 for stay through Dec. 16).

Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club

Address: 501 Fifth Ave. NE, St. Petersburg

The allure: Downtown St. Pete serves as the backdrop for a venerable resort that’s approaching a 100-year anniversary. Built in 1925, the Vinoy places travelers within walking distance of the New St. Pete Pier and the area’s cultural attractions (like the famous Dalí Museum). Inside the resort, throwback glamour and modern spaces seamlessly coexist, with quaint accommodations that overlook Tampa Bay or the picturesque gardens. The resort draws its share of golfers thanks to the 18-hole championship course at The Vinoy Club. There’s also lighted tennis courts, heated outdoor pools, and an expansive exercise facility with daily fitness classes. Seafood and international cuisine dot the menu at Paul’s Landing, the Vinoy’s waterfront restaurant; the Veranda Patio offers casual fare, cocktails and live music.

Isn’t that special: Check with the property about extended stay and summer staycation packages.
