Five Things to Know About: Grateful Palate Catering & Events

1. Isn’t that special?: Since opening the doors to its 4,000-square-foot venue on the Intracoastal Waterway in 2014, Grateful Palate Catering & Events has established itself as one of Broward’s premier special-occasion destinations. Customers are booking the space a year in advance in some cases—and not just for the view.

2. It’s in the details: “There’s nothing we can’t make when it comes to a special request by a guest,” says operations director Peter Lopez. “We’ve had people show us a picture and say, ‘We want this.’ And we’ll figure it out. We’ll have a special tasting for [the client] to make sure it meets their demands.”

3. Rise to the occasion: Dietary restrictions? Religious considerations? No problem. “We’ll have a rabbi bless the food, and then we’ll clear out our coolers so that the food has no chance of coming in contact with anything,” Lopez says. “The personal touch we provide—you’re not going to find anything better.”

4. ‘Tis the season: Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, Grateful Palate will host one or two on-site events per day—and as many as five off-site events each day of the weekend. Executive chef Brian Cornelius and his dedicated team will prepare plated dinners and sprawling buffets for up to 300 guests (on the high end).

5. Options galore: Though the grilled filet mignon and rock lobster tail combo remains the most popular request, it’s far from the only highlight of Grateful Palate’s four-course menu tiers. Think grilled lamb lollipops with black currant jam or black caviar on blini with creme fraiche (above) as appetizers, and pan-seared shrimp and scallops, honey-mustard glazed rack of lamb, and chili-rubbed grilled grouper for entrees.
