Community Foundation of Broward Seeks Applicants for “Spread the Love Grants”

The application deadline is July 25, and the 40 nonprofits that will receive the grants will be announced in October.

To honor its 40th anniversary in 2024, the Community Foundation of Broward is offering “40 for 40: Spread the Love Grants,” totaling $400,000 to support 40 nonprofits in making a significant impact in Broward. With each grant up to $10,000, the campaign serves as another way for the Community Foundation of Broward to express gratitude to the community, which has wholeheartedly supported its mission to promote local philanthropy for the past 40 years, shaping a brighter future for Broward.

The new anniversary-themed wave of support, “40 for 40: Spread the Love Grants,” is another testament to the dedicated fundholders who partner with the Community Foundation of Broward to create charitable funds that fuel philanthropy. Over the past 40 years, the Foundation has shepherded 532 philanthropic funds and provided more than $190 million in support of various causes, including student achievement, the arts, career readiness, senior care, HIV/AIDS prevention, equity and social justice, environmental resilience, healthcare, affordable housing, disaster relief, nonprofit empowerment, and more.

“The Community Foundation of Broward is turning 40 and we want the community we love to benefit from our yearlong 40th-anniversary celebration,” says president and CEO Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Ph.D. “This incredible milestone wouldn’t be possible without the support from our fundholders who are dedicated to our mission of transforming our community through philanthropy and creating bold impact for this place we call home.”

The Community Foundation of Broward is seeking the following:

  1. Project proposals, activities, and other initiatives that will benefit the community and utilize the grants in Broward.
  2. Innovative ideas that integrate the number 40 while aligning with the nonprofit’s mission. For instance, providing groceries and essentials for 40 families in need, conducting 40 tutoring sessions for at-risk students, or supporting an art exhibition displaying 40 works by local artists.
  3. A detailed plan outlining how the organization will demonstrate that the grant-supported effort is part of the Community Foundation of Broward’s yearlong 40th-anniversary commemoration.
  4. A commitment to providing follow-up reports, including photos, videos, and written documentation demonstrating the community impact of the grant-supported effort.

Eligible applicants for the grant include:

  • Organizations that have received grants from the Community Foundation of Broward in the past or present.
  • Nonprofits that are in good standing with the Community Foundation of Broward.
  • Nonprofits of any size (staff or budget).
  • Organizations that have an ACH account.
  • Nonprofits actively serving the Broward community and have a current Candid Profile.

How to apply:
