Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center to Launch Satellite Primary Care Program

The Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) has partnered with FLITE Center to ensure foster children in Broward can receive the comprehensive, family-centered medical care they need to maintain optimal health. By opening a satellite program at the FLITE Center in Fort Lauderdale, which helps vulnerable youth learn skills to transition to independent living, the CDTC can boost the number of patients it can assist.

“CDTC is incredibly proud to increase access to quality health care for Broward County youth by bringing our patient-centered, medical home model to the FLITE Center,” says Dr. Ana Calderon Randazzo, Executive Director of Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center. “CDTC is partnering with FLITE Center to help ensure that Broward County youth have every opportunity to develop longstanding relationships with their physician to achieve a healthy future.”

Sponsorships from the Broward Health Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Fort Lauderdale Charitable Fund of the Community Foundation of Broward and the Moss Foundation enabled the new partnership to launch the satellite location, which will cost over $100,000 to operate annually. CDTC caregivers, including a pediatrician, family medicine physician, nurse and medical assistants will be on-site to provide routine primary care visits, HIV testing, nutrition and health education, telehealth appointments and access to a telephone triage nurse, as well as 24/7 on-call service

“We are honored to partner with Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center and Broward Health on this extremely important satellite medical home for our kids,” says Christine Frederick, CEO of FLITE Center. “This clinic will not only bridge the health gap in the system of care, but Broward County youth will now have access to CDTC’s comprehensive array of health care services, including dental care, telehealth and additional medical care coordination.”

To ensure the future success of the facility, the organizations are seeking funding to support physician salaries and medical supplies. For more information on sponsoring services, please call 954-728-1040.
