The Arts Mean Business Speaker Series (AMB), hosted by Business for the Arts of Broward (BFA), will feature an intimate cocktail reception with a conversation with the figurative painter and muralist Elio Mercado/Evoca1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 at BBX Capital, 201 E. Las Olas Blvd., Suite 1900 in Fort Lauderdale. The event is presented by the Castle Group and the Cathy and James Donnelly Family Fund at the Community Foundation of Broward and is free and open to the public.
Elio Mercado/Evoca1 is a figurative painter and muralist born in the Dominican Republic and based in South Florida. He is a self-taught artist who studied the work and techniques of the old masters. Apart from his local projects, he has participated in public art projects in various countries worldwide, including Abu Dhabi, Peru, Austria, Canada, Argentina, Germany, Mexico, Australia and Tunisia. He has created art pieces for notable clients such as Starbucks, The History Channel, Google, American Express, Lincoln Motor Company and Habitat for Humanity. One of his local projects is the mural on the exterior of the Boys And Girls Club of Broward County at 3025 W. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Follow Elio Mercado/Evoca1 on Instagram at @evoca1.
In addition to the Arts Mean Business Speaker Series, Business for the Arts of Broward supports local artists and fosters cultural vitality, creative success, and economic development through various means.
