Mental health issues, in a variety of incarnations, will be addressed at an upcoming all-virtual event. The third annual Broward Mental Health Summit, scheduled for Sept. 10, will feature 20 different online sessions, plus a keynote speaker, in an effort to provide resources and education involving several current-day topics.
The online event will be launched on Sept. 10 at 8:30 a.m., but the educational sessions will remain accessible to virtual attendees for 15 days.
Dr. Ashwin Mehta, the physician in charge of integrative (alternative) medicine for Memorial Health Care System, will deliver the keynote speech on mental health during COVID-19. Other program highlights include sessions on: warning signs of mental illness; the impact of social media on suicide; bringing black male mental health to the forefront; easing the burden of financial stress; psychotropic medication and its side effects; loneliness vs. isolation; and much more.
New Lifestyle Club’s Beth Taché, associate publisher of InWeston Lifestyle, is one of the event’s co-chairs.
