Bridge to Justice Breakfast Helps Aid Broward Community

The Legal Aid Programs in Broward County recently held their annual Bridge to Justice breakfast fundraiser earlier this month at the Signature Grand in Davie. Over 220 legal community members, including judges and business leaders, attended the morning program, highlighting the vital work these organizations do to assist vulnerable and underserved populations in Broward.

Legal Aid Service of Broward County’s new Executive Director Brent Thompson, opened the event and welcomed guests. Event Chair Juliette Lippman, a Legal Aid Service of Broward County board member, addressed the attendees about the importance of having legal aid programs available in the community. She also discussed the work and services the organizations provide to the local community. Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida offers assistance to more than 22,000 children, seniors, veterans, homeless persons, victims of domestic violence and other crimes, unaccompanied immigrant minors, and people living with HIV/AIDS served

During the event, philanthropist and former all-pro Miami Dolphins linebacker John Offerdahl (pictured) was presented with the Bridge to Justice Award by Legal Aid Service of Broward County’s Board Chair Douglas Reynolds. The honor recognizes and highlights the critical work Offerdahl has done building connections and resources for the community. Guests also heard from Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Gilbert King, who shared his dynamic perspectives blending his gift for narrative with his knowledge of civil rights cases.
