Beloved Miami Chef Opens AlterQ

Brad Kilgore, the Kansas City native who helped transform Miami’s culinary landscape with four highly successful restaurants, has turned his famed Wynwood establishment, Alter, into AlterQ in an effort to help during the coronavirus pandemic. AlterQ offers a wide scope of items needed during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the majority of South Floridians find themselves homebound and restaurants are shut down.

For starters, there are hearty sandwiches with Kilgore’s signature touch. Consider the AlterQ “McRib”—boneless smoked ribs, shaved onion, barbecue sauce and pickles served on a Martin’s bun, or the bahn mi made with bacon patê, pickled and fresh vegetables on a sourdough baguette. Other restaurant favorites featured are the gnudi with fire-roasted tomatoes and peppers, watermelon and vine-ripened tomato salad. Those wanting to purchase top quality proteins to prepare at home may do so as well. Highlights include the 22-ounce, dry-aged, bone-in ribeye, hanger steaks and organic chicken breast. Dry goods and household items like eggs, pasta, truffle butter and even latex gloves, also are available, as are beer, wines and prebatched drink mixers.

AlterQ, located at 223 NW 23rd St. in Miami, is open for curbside takeout and delivery daily from noon to 9 p.m. To view the menu and place an order, visit alterq.speedetab.com/
or call 305.573.5996.

Kilgore appreciates the community that has supported him in his rise to become one of Miami’s most venerated chefs and has joined with other local, iconic culinary figures—
chef Michael Schwartz of Michael’s Genuine, chef Michelle Bernstein of La Trova, chef Michael Beltran of Ariete and Zak H. Stern of Zak the Baker—in raising awareness and funds to provide grants to full-time restaurant workers in Miami. To contribute, visit their GoFundMe page.
