Back in Glam

South Florida’s most fashionable tribute to breast cancer awareness returns after a two-year hiatus. The Gallery of Amazing Things in Dania Beach will be the backdrop Sept. 10 for Lipstick Lounge, the fun-filled style extravaganza that promises a Men’s Den with casino-style gambling, cocktails, light bites and over-the-top beauty and fashion finds. The event is the brainchild of Tammy Gail, a 17-year breast cancer survivor and the founder of Glam-a-Thon, a nonprofit organization that has raised more than $600,000 to benefit breast cancer patients in South Florida.

Before this year’s event—which also features a VIP reception recognizing “Glammy” philanthropists—Glam-a-Thon announced a new partnership with Memorial Healthcare Foundation.

“Post-COVID-19, we have placed our focus on spreading the mammogram message,” Gail says. “Cancer diagnosis radically dropped during [the pandemic] because people stopped getting tested. We need to promote mammograms and diagnostics to get people the medical help they need.

“By raising funds that directly support under-served patient’s well-being and quality of life, we can make a significant difference in treatment outcomes.”

Tickets are on sale for $75 through Sept. 3 (after that, they’re $95 through Sept. 9, and $105 at the door). Visit glam-a-thon.com/lipstick-lounge for additional information.

Update: This event has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
