Live theater is back at Arts Garage. Arts Garage is launching Theatre Live From Arts Garage with Bunker, a one-act play written by Sharonda Eccentrich Richardson, directed by Jonathan David Kelly, and starring Shanteala Mash. The production dramatizes the story of Khalan and his mother as she finds herself becoming the very thing from which she is trying to protect him. Audiences have the option of watching the performance live at socially distanced tabled or streaming it live. Tickets are $25 for the livestream and $150 per table in person. Bottoms up at MODS. The Museum of Discovery and Science presents The Science of Beer: Home Brew Edition, a virtual event perfect for beer and science lovers. Guests will go behind the scenes with a brewery partner to explore the science behind beer making and enjoy beer samplings from the Funky Buddha Brewery and Bone Hook Brewing Company, beer-friendly bites, and hands-on science demos. Feel the beat at Pompano Beach Cultural Center. Pompano Beach Cultural Center presents Fushu Daiko’s 30th Anniversary Virtual Concert. Fushu Daiko (featured image above) combines taiko drums and rhythms of Japanese taiko drumming with styles such as jazz and rhythm & blues to create an exciting, powerful, cross-cultural experience. Have dinner and a show at The Wick Theatre. Following safety and social distancing guidelines, The Wick hosts dinner and a show events taking visitors on a musical journey to the Big Apple and the Motor City. Broadway to Motown (Oct. 23 & 24; 6 p.m.) features favorite Motown hits and some that made it to Broadway; A Spell on Broadway (Oct. 29, 30 & 31) features music from hit shows like BeetlejuiceLittle Shop of HorrorsKiss of the SpiderwomanRocky Horror Show. Learn Japanese painting at Morikami. Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens host several classes this month and next, including Sumi-e Ink Painting. The hands-on class allows students to experience the art of sumi-e, a form of Japanese ink painting brought from China in the 12th century. Students will learn to grind their own ink using an ink stick and a grinding stone and learn to hold and utilize brushes. Tickets are $60. Click here for more.
