Village First

Assistant Village Clerk Priscilla Torres was sworn in as the president of the Miami-Dade County Municipal Clerks Association (MDCMCA) by former Miami-Dade Commissioner Katy Sorenson and current CEO of the Good Government Initiative at the University of Miami on October 30 during the organization’s annual meeting, which was held at Pinecrest’s Suniland Park. Torres is the first Pinecrest staffer to hold this prestigious position. “MDCMCA is a unique platform for municipal clerks to network and learn from each other. The association is also a catalyst for self-enrichment,” says Torres. During her one-year tenure, she plans to increase participation in MDCMCA activities, further strengthen relationships between area municipal clerks, and increase the group’s social media presence. “A top initiative for me this year is to offer members workshops on a range of topics that will add to each one’s skill set,” she says.
