$1 Million Donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs Of Broward County at Yacht Rendevous Event

Lawrence F. De George and Lorena Perozo, Founders and Directors of the LDG & LPR Charitable Foundation, donated $1 million to honor Rita and Rick Case for their efforts in creating the annual Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County Yacht Rendezvous at Fisher Island in Miami. The funds will help benefit the 12 Boys & Girls Clubs in Broward County.

“Rita and Rick’s monumental efforts underscore their lifelong commitment to give back to our community and contribute to the material growth and development of our youths,”  says the donors in a statement.

The 33rd Annual Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County Yacht Rendezvous featured three days of entertainment and charitable fundraising to support the Boys & Girls Clubs. Carla Taylor and Joe Dargavage chaired the event weekend, which featured a Yacht Hop and Hawaiian-themed dance party and a formal Monte Carlo-themed Black-Tie Gala at the Vanderbilt Mansion. It was highlighted by a live performance from Colbie Caillat, the two-time Grammy-winning artist.

During the event, De George was inducted into the prestigious “Dream Makers Society.”  Dream Makers inductees are individuals who have established a long-term commitment to the Boys & Girls Club and played a vital role in developing programs that had a significant impact on the organization’s success and donated over a million dollars.

“We celebrate Larry’s commitment and contribution to improve the lives and the future of our club members, who deserve and desire opportunity,”  says Rita Case. “This year, the event honored my dear Rick, who founded the event and for 32 years led the Rendezvous to raise over $50 million and I promised him we would continue raising money for the kids.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County (BGCBC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping youth improve their lives by building self-esteem and developing values and skills during their adolescence. The clubs serve 12,000 at-risk youth at its 12 Broward County-area clubs.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County’s Yacht Rendezvous is one of the largest gatherings of mega-yachts for charity in the world,”  says Matt Organ, Co-CEO at Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. “We are forever grateful to Rita & Rick Case for creating and developing this mega event three decades ago and helping more than 12,000 at-risk youth it serves.”
